- Hello there Atari-User!
-
- (New: Released on 30.12.1992)
-
- This editor is Public Domain and will be an integral part of GFA Basic 4.0.
-
- Now, what has been done ? The latest version is undoubtedly smaller at
- 148,932 Bytes. It is now usable in all possible resolutions: ST & TT Low,
- Mid, High & with graphic cards. Also, it can be used together with a single-
- tasking TOS or with MultiTOS & MiNT. Furthermore, it will recognize GDOS
- fonts (although at the moment only non-proportional ones !)
-
- Brief instructions:
-
- By double-clicking on the GFA (Editor) icon, you can create a new editing
- window. At the present time, you can have up to 256 editing windows even
- though this really doesn't make sense, except for networks.
-
- Also, editing windows can be deleted: simply by dragging the appropriate icon
- to the rubbish bin.
-
- When leaving the program, you will be automatically reminded to save any files
- that have been created or changed. Also, the editor will remember the last
- path and file extension that was used i.e.: *.TXT or *.INF or whatever the
- current setting was. *.AC? or *.* are also valid. The extension can be set via
- the Options menu and is entered as: AC?, *, TXT, LST ... etc. (You can also
- use Alternate-T as a keyboard short cut).
-
- The Clipboard:
-
- You may copy to, or read from the clipboard (with Control K or Control Ü
- respectively). This will write to or read from the file SCRAP.TXT. You can
- also use the normal ATARI & Macintosh shortcuts:
-
- Cut/Copy/Paste (^X, ^C, ^V) and the other usual shortcut ^Y, to delete a line,
- will also be recognized.
-
- The 3D-Look is very pretty, but it requires a color palette of at least 16
- colors to be available. ST Low, TT Low, TT Mid & graphic cards can make use
- of this. However, in ST High, TT High and other monochrome resolutions it can
- be tiresome, since text is no longer easily readable. The others will appear
- exactly the same as MultiTOS from Eric Smith and Atari. So far, the About,
- Help and "Display" dialogs have been converted. The rest are coming soon!
- Also, different languages will be catered for in the pull down menus. This has
- already present in the source code, but has not yet been implemented. A
- "Language" setting will be available, which will then come into operation the
- next time the program is executed.
-
- MfG, Filipe.
-
- P.S.: The new, shorter Source is better to download (148,932 Bytes instead of
- more than 200 KB) and is ideal for Atari computers with smaller memories.
-
- Happy new year !
